YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN NEW CITY IN WATERING THE ROOTS OF WHAT GOD IS ALREADY DOING FOR THE FLOURISHING OF OUR CITY
We are asking the entire church to pour freshwater by following Jesus, in communities, on mission.
FOLLOWING JESUS
A Jesus follower is someone who submits to Jesus in every area of life with increasing measure. We need the help of the Holy Spirit and predictable life rhythms to follow Jesus more closely. Over the next six months, we are asking the whole church to embrace a Rhythms of Life tool. The tool is meant to build new rhythms and habits in order to submit a specific area of life more fully to Jesus. We believe if everyone at New City submits just a few areas of life to Jesus in reliance upon his Holy Spirit, freshwater will flow and God will cause lives to change. God is faithful; he will produce growth.
IN COMMUNITIES
The Holy Spirit has gifted every follower of Jesus with spiritual gifts to serve the church and the city. A fresh understanding of how God has gifted us is a crucial step in watering the roots for a flourishing city. We are asking everyone at New City to take a gifts assessment. We are not prescribing how you serve through your gifting; we are asking everyone to pray, “How can I pour freshwater on what has been planted by offering my spiritual gifts in the service of God and others?
ON MISSION
We believe that we can have the greatest impact in our church and in our city by strategically caring for children. We have demonstrated this value by planting ministries like Shine Partnership, Ciudad de Gracia, and The Collective, to name a few.
Over the next six months, we want to water the roots of what has already been planted in our church and our city through a short-term generosity initiative.
ONE
Hiring an Executive Minister. Last year, we hired a consultant to explore how we could do ministry better. We were advised to start with an Executive Minister and staff our church around that hire. This hire will pour freshwater on our volunteer teams, ministry staff, and all that we are doing to care for children at New City.
TWO
Watering the roots of six ministries and their leaders who care for children in our city. Each of these ministries is led by leaders who are active at New City Church.
Zizi Fritz with Shine Partnership
Shelly Repp with New Mexico Dream Center
Brandon Ennis with Kids Club
Parker Schramm with Navigators I:58
Doug & Shawna Sullivan with Navigators Campus Ministry
Abiel Diaz with Ciudad de Gracia
We will pour freshwater on the roots of these ministries with prayer, volunteerism, and financial generosity.
THREE
By the end of the year, we will replenish our cash reserves to prepare New City for future impact. We are asking everyone at New City to consider what they had already planned to give from now until the end of the year and to ask God if they can do more over that period of time. We are going to consider anything that comes in over our base budget to be a part of the initiative. We are not asking you to let us know what your commitment is. We are only asking you to ask God, “What do you want my household to give?”
